question about my new dumeril's

crochuntermyhero Feb 11, 2004 10:36 PM

hey all, first time posting here. Long time reader, first time poster.

i recently got a dumeril's and i have a couple questions
1. when i got her she was eating just fine which is strange because the temps were a little lower than they should be ( i fixed that) but since i fixed it and put her temps where they should be i havent had any luck getting her to eat. she used to eat f/t rat pups and would strike at them now..nothing it's been 3 weeks and nothing, she ate a couple right before a shed, and she shed just fine but ever since then..nothing i even added a bit more heat wondering if she was too cold.

anyways i'm just wondering if anyone had any advice for me i'm starting to get worried thanks in advance

James

Initial thought, go back to what was working, then go from there.

what were your initial temps? Dumerils dont need to be kept as hot as columbians and other species so your intitial temps may have been the correct ones

the initial temps were around mid 70's cool side and mid 80's on the warm end now it's mid 80's cool end 90 warm end, should i lower the temps back down?

The ambient room temps in my house are the high 70's (I like to be warm *g*) and I provide a basking spot in my dumerils cages of the upper 80's to no more than 90 - whereas my redtails like a basking spot of 90-92. I rarely find either of my dumerils near the basking spot, typically only right after a meal, if then. I would slightly drop your temps and seem if your dum resumes feeding.
