Blood Python Caging

dsp0008 Jun 08, 2003 06:17 PM

I am in the market for a new, adult cage for my blood. He's getting too big for his 2 foot neodesha (he's 3.5 ft long and is 16 months old). I need advice on the best cage to get. I've researched a lot and have found that my best options lie with Vision and Boaphile Plastics. Neither really offer a 5th by 2ft cage, which seems ideal, but would I be fine with a 4x2 cage for an adult blood? Vision also offers a 54"x36" cage, would it be worth the extra floor space?

Another question. I've heard some bad things about Pro Products Randiant heat panels, about them burning out and what not. I'm really thinking about going with one of these to fully use my helix thermostat, what are your opinions?

Thanks for your time!

Im sure Pro pannels are ok, but Chad Brown said they had like a 50% failure. He said to go with Helix pannels. I also once read somewhere that a Blood almost always needs to stretch out its enitre length to completely avoid respiratory prolems. Thats what I read, Im not saying its true.

I have about a dozen heat panels from ProProducts and have not had problems for the past two years. Others such as Rob Carmichael have more for longer with no problems.

Here’s one old thread on that topic: Bloods and Visions

Here’s another: More Bloods and Visions

If you search the old Python forum archives, you should find a fair number of other posts on this topic.
