I have a couple of questions regarding temp guns before I decide to go ahead and buy one. First, can you measure ambient temps, or only surface temp? Second is the $25 one being sold at LLLreptile right now the same one that ProExotics sells for $35? They look identicle.

I am not sure of the LLL version, but I just got my proex in the mail two days ago. It is wonderful.

It does just what it is supposed to. also comes in a metal case with foam cut out inside to keep your temp gun safe. Also comes with cut outs for an extra battery (which is also included) and comes with a wrist strap.

for my money - the extra $10 to proex is better spent. They have done a lot for monitor keepers and are VERY active on the forums here to help folks.

Call LLL & ask if it comes with the case & batt.

They only read surface temps. But,,,, Now I don't have that exact one, I have the Radio Shack one, but you can hold the button and move it around & get the readings as you move. So you can find the hottest spot easily.

I still use the digital indoor/outdoor for the ambient temps.

I just called LLLreptile and asked them if the one they are offering comes with the case and extra battery, it does. I went ahead and ordered it.

I bought mine from proexotics about 6 months ago. They are great for surface temps. My recommendation is to get one.

P.S. you might call LLL and see if it comes in a case with battery and such.

I called yesterday and checked on the case and extra battery and they are both included. Also got a reply back to the same question on the monitor forum and Robyn from ProExotics said that LLL is one of his largest distributors and encouraged taking advantage of the sale.
