Difficulty swallowing

dcdccrn Feb 12, 2004 01:17 AM

Two days ago I fed my dragon, Mr. Delores, a cricket, which he readily took from the tongs, but noticed he had difficulty swallowing it. After several attempts he finally got it down, but he's never had a problem like this before. The cricket was moderate in size and was no bigger than Mr. Delores has eaten before. Mr. Delores is 3 years old, active and acting as he usually does. So I'm very puzzled. I'm thinking maybe an abscess but he isn't acting as if he has an infection. I'd like some input before I rush him off to the vets, since I live in the northeast and I'd rather not expose him to the frigid temps if I don't have to. Subsequently, he ate two more crickets after the first, but again had a difficult time getting them down. Any input would be greatly appreciated........Thanks, dcdccrn

Vet is the best option there has got to be somthing going on in his mouth and throat area. And thats something not worth the risk of waiting due to how quickly it can impact his health. Healthy beardies are like compactors, crunch, crunch, crunch. so get it for a check up. Keep us posted
