Meat babyfood?

thegeckobarn Feb 12, 2004 01:41 AM

Ive heard of people tube feeding this to snakes who refuse to eat, and need the extra protein. But does this work for leopard geckos?? I have heard its about the equivalant of a pinky or two...so if this could be done safely..could this work? I mean, not all geckos take pinkies or waxworms, so I assume if its safe it would be worth a shot.
Or would the preservatives be a bad thing for leos to consume?
I have a few geckos that could use the extra protein and fat..and refuse pinkies and waxworms...so id like to know what others think of this.
I mean..if its safe for a snake..could it be safe for a gecko as well? Just a few licks here and there?

BTW, Ive never tried this..just a thought so far.

There aren't any preservatives(at least artificial) in meat baby foods. I have used them in the mixes I would feed to my Crested geckos before switching to the t-rex diets. I would mix a pinch of cal/vatamins with it before feeding though. You could also just try the t-rex crested gecko food for this purpose...marcia and I had a discussion about it a few days ago on this forum
good luck

Hi Bill Just wondering what kind of meat baby food you feed your geckos? The two new cresteds i got are doing great. No eggs yet. They were being fed crickets at the store, so i've been working with them to switch over to the CGD. They will take freshly molted mealworms no problem. I think a few different flavours of baby food (meat and fruit) will spice up their diet a bit. I've found that my Zeek isn't as large as i'd thought he'd be just eating the CGD so i've started alternating babyfood, CGD and mealworms. He seems to like it

P.S. i've heard so much about this T-Rex stuff i'd like to try it but i haven't found it up here yet....... *pout* hehehe

I feed most of my rhacs on the CGD...I have a few that I'm raising up on a supplemented baby food mix. Here it is: 1 jar of banana, 1 jar of peach and one jar of turkey babyfood in broth(there is one with gravy which I do not use). To this mix I add a small pinch of herptivite, and a pinch of miner-all I.
