Plexiglass

tanmuscles Jun 08, 2003 06:45 PM

I always hear about people talking about using a plexiglass front when the make a cage. Where can i get it, and is it very expensive? I'm going to use it for a front of my savannah monitor cage. Could i use glass instead or would it break it? Thanks a ton.

plexiglass is a brand name of acrylic. i would not use it for a savannah monitor because there nails will scratch it.
glass would work better and in some cases it's cheeper.
hope this helps

sorry about posting this kind of late..but i agree that plexiglass will scratch very easy.. i would go with lexan or a semi-thick glass... lexan is like plexiglass except it doesn't stratch as easy and is very very hard to break but it is err more exp than glass..

I was in the home depot today looking at this very same thing. I don't know the prices on glass, but the lexan and plexiglass went anywhere from 2-4 dollars for smaller sized (8x12 I guess)lexan to 60.00 for the very largest plexiglass (4x6 ft x 1/4) The lexan I was told is 120 times stronger than glass, but it seemed very flimsy. I'm sure it would work great framed. I'm looking into making a completely plexiglass enclosure for my ball python. So any advice you have I would appreciate. Hope my info helps some.

Have you held a ball python today?
