Help! scotch tape stuck onto my Leo's belly!

All4Sky Feb 12, 2004 12:57 PM

I use a little scotch tape to hold down the paper towels on some parts of my Leo's containers and one of them somehow was able to get it stuck on its belly. I was able to get a little of it peeled away but I'm afraid to go any further without asking anyone what to do. I dont want him to lose any scales. Should I just wait until his next shed? Thanks for your time.

a good warm water soak and if that don't work, try a little mineral oil or cooking oil on it and try to peel it easily. Leos don't have scales. They have a soft hide like skin. If it is really causing a lot of pain or pulls to hard you may wait till next shed but keep a very close eye on it. I would think a good soaking and some oil would get it if it does pull right off

Give him/her a good warm soak. Scotch tape isn't that powerful it should float right off after a few min.

Thanks for the replies! Before I put him back in his container to write the call for help post, I sprayed his humid hid substrate with warm water and he crawled back in. After reading the replies I decided to give him the warm bath and when I picked him up, it had already fell off! Thanks for the help, I'll definitely make sure this doesnt happen again, and make sure to go straight for the warm bath if it does happen again.
