Intermedius/Imitator

MarkPulawski Feb 12, 2004 03:10 PM

There have been many discussions on this forum about hybridizing Tinc color morphs, almost all responsible hobbyists agree this is not something to do. I just wanted to direct this hybridization of color morph spotlight over to the Intermedius/Imitator groups as well. As I have heard there are well over 20 locality specific Intermedius color morphs and many Imitators as well. As responsible hobbyists we should try and ID what we are working with, my guess would be that there are 3 distinct morphs of Intermedius here in the US right now. When the Peruvian frogs start getting shipped (hopefully later this year)locality data should be available, but for now we should all realize that there different color morphs of these species here now and try and keep them from getting muddied up. Imitators have been sold indiscriminantly for many years here and more than likely this has already occured with them, however intermedius has only been around for a few years and there still may be distinct morphs that have been kept pure.
Maybe one of you computer savy people can post this statement on frognet as well so that as many hobbyists as possible can consider this info. Thanks for listening

Hi Mark and forum members,

I only know 2 types of intermedius; the Todd Kelley line (Euro import?) and the terrapota (a locality id). Would you mind let me know about the other one and the difference/s between them??

regards,

Hey Mark thanks for the info.
A few weeks ago I was thinking that there was more than just the 2 intermedius lines, so I did post a question on frognet, but it only got one response. I will post the info you satated and see what comes of it, maybe people just missed the last post.

Thanks
Benjamin
