ANOTHER JUNGLE WITH COLOR....more...

BCAGLEREPS Feb 12, 2004 05:56 PM

THIS IS ANOTHER SUPER PINK/RED JUNGLE COLOMBIAN. SHE IS NOT FROM THE EUROPEAN LINE. IN MY OPINION, SHE HAS NICER COLOR THAN MOST OF THOSE ANIMALS. SHE IS ALSO VIRTUALLY SPECKLE FREE.

Hi Bill,

Please don't take this the wrong way...I am not trying to start an argument.....I'm just trying to understand Jungle Boas more. I don't see why your boa is considered a Jungle Boa. What makes it one?.....because the parents are Jungle Boas ?
Your boa seems more like a very nice looking Pastel boa to me. If your boa is a Jungle Boa would that make my striped males that are also 50% het for albino Jungle Boas? I am breeding these two to a normal and a het for albino and striped female this year.

Here are some links I have found on Jungle Boas.

Bill,
How could you even consider that a Jungle!!!! I just don't see it. It is a very colorful, nice looking boa. Was it a Jungle sibling??? I would really like to know how you could justify calling it a Jungle.

I see a beautiful boa that someone is referring to as a Jungle but CLEARLY not misrepresenting since a prominent statement in the ad reads 'These are NOT from the European line' . (This is in the ad posted for sale in sale section)

Point is, it is not a 'Swedish Genetic Jungle' that we know of with the excessive, bold yellow color and other specific characteristics, but it is something that is being called Jungle, probably referring to aberrant pattern and more...

The parents could've looked more 'Jungle' than your swedish line..
I'm not knocking this line at all, I love them!

Just saying there is a difference from people out there trying to sell you a common as a several thousand dollar genetic swedish line Jungle, and someone simply referring to the appearance of their boa as Jungle.

Furthermore, there are many lines out there that can be referred to or are similar to Jungle's.. Just one example is the Harlequin line. NO they are not identical, but they share similar features and both genetics act in a somewhat similar fashion.
I also love and have the Harlequin line!

I hope you understand what I mean...

I'm not trying to bash and also don't like for others to be bashed, especially friends..

If anyone wants to bash, I just saw some ads in the Ball Python section and I pretty much laughed at everyone in disbelief..lol

it's like a diferent name/morph is 'invented' every day! lol LOL

anyway, I love Jungles (Swedish line), I love Harlequins, I love just about every boa out there and i've also seen these Boas Bill has and ... boy oh boy, let me tell you, their colors blow most stuff i've seen CLEAR out of the water!

Take care guys - Joe

"Caveat Emptor"...(a latin phrase that translates:"Let the buyer beware." ) I have a wrist watch,I'd like to get "Rolex" money for it,I'll offer it for sale as one, but,I'll clearly state that it's not from the manufacturer, known for their fine craftsmanship, however,it does display the time, and,is worn on the wrist,so I feel it shares many of the same attributes, and,it's very attractive??? why would it be wrong for me to sell it as a "Rolex"?,especially since I plan to clearly state that it really isn't one???...with the application of a little common sense,my question suddenly answers itself, doesn't it?....if not, feel free to apply another liberal dose of "common sense"!

The unfortunate thing here, IMO, is that a morph was given a name that is very descriptive and has been used for other boas, meaning, it would be like calling a morph 'spotted'...

Now almost EVERY boa out there can be spotted to some extent, so most persons wouldn't find it wrong to label and sell their snakes as spotted (descriptively), but then the poor soul who chose to name this morph spotted gets offended, and since the spotted morph has already been established, everyone jumps in because it does make sense to a certain degree..

just my $.02

The other day I saw an ad that Mr.Cagle had posted for salmon boas. Now, I know that salmon is a color, but in the boa world, salmon has been adopted as the name for a certain line of hypomelanistic boas. Sure, the boas were a nice orangish -pink, but not anything like what has become known as a salmon boa.In fact the boas weren't even hypo.It was stated in the ad that they were not hypos, but I am sure that a new person to the hobby would read about the genetics behind salmon boas, and expect half of a litter to look like one of the parents if they were to breed one of those to a normal, which wouldn't be the case at all.It seems harmless enough to call them something that they are and not be accused of missrepresentation, but I think this is a little too close to the line. Jungles that aren't Jungles, and salmons that aren't salmons. The jungles have a jungle look to them yes, and the salmons were pink, but they are not jangles or salmons, and I think it is wrong to sell them as such.
