I had read on several pages that you can shred moss and mix it with a small amount of buttermilk (to help make the ground around it more acidic I think) and then spread that where you want moss and then a few months later, voila! Moss growing everywhere. I have tried this on a small scale and about 2 months later, it seems to be working, just not as fast as I had hoped. Keep in mind I have spent my whole life AVOIDING buttermilk!
My main question is, assuming this theory is correct, can you put watered down buttermilk in a sprayer and spray the exising moss to help it grow? If I took a 50/50 mix of buttermilk and water and sprayed it sparingly and then maybe sprayed again with 100% water to let it soak in, would it hurt the frogs that live in there? I know these guys are touchy, but I dont think buttermilk would hurt them if used sparingly.
Please lend your opinions and thanks ahead of time.
