Fed Ex horror story!!! (long.....)

StinaUIUC Feb 12, 2004 06:50 PM

I purchased a hypo-tang rainwater albino male leo from Garrick of Crested Gecko...he's a pleasure to deal with (though a little slow to respond to e-mails sometimes). I ordered the leo about 3 weeks to a month ago, and it was too cold to ship until this week. He shipped him Monday for delivery Tuesday morning...So I sat around on Tuesday morning waiting for the delivery...and no one showed up...so I checked the tracking at about 2:00 PM (one thing I can say for Fed Ex is that they have good tracking), and it said they made a delivery attempt at about 1:40...at which time I'd been sitting in the living room waiting for them to show up...So I called their customer service number and the person I talked to said they didn't have the apartment number, so I gave it to her and she said she'd try to get the truck turned around...if not the package would be delivered Wednesday...Well the truck didn't get turned around because no one came and there was no second attempt on the tracking system. So I waited again on Wednesday and checked the tracking system at about 3 PM and it said they made a delivery attempt at 1:30!....again, there were people here and no slip at the door, and nothing at the office...so I called again and they sounded like they didn't have the apartment number again so I gave it to them again and the person I talked to said they'd tell the local people to make sure it got delivered...so come 6 it still wasn't here and there was no new attempt on the tracking system...so I called again...for the third time...They said the truck was back and they weren't going to reattempt again...now this whole time I've been e-mailing Garrick back and forth...and he informed me that they've had my apartment number the whole time...so I still had no darn idea what the heck their problem was...So today I waited again, and had to go to a lab at 1, but there were people here...and after I got back I checked the tracking again, and it said the package had been delivered at 12:10...and I was here then!...again...no one ever knocked or left a slip or anything! So I went down to the office to see if it was there, totally expecting it to be...but no, of course not!!! So I called Fed Ex AGAIN....and they said they'd call the local place and have them call me when they figured out what happened...so its now almost 7 and I've gotten no call back!!!!!! Btw...the address they had was correct...I checked it the first 2 times I called...I don't know what the hell happened...but I'm pissed beyond belief!!!! Garrick told me he'd replace the poor guy if he didn't make it...but he hasn't even gotten here!!! I don't know where the heck they took him! I don't know what to do! I'm so angry!

I know its hard, but first off, FedEx IMHO is terrible. However, I can't remember who, but someone on this board had a gecko go AWOL for about 10 days last spring and it showed up deliverred and alive. That's one of the best parts of dealing with such great breeders. You pay for the quality you get. I have yet to purchase from Crested Geckos, but they are on my list. I wouldn't worry too much about it now, I'm almost sure he'll be fine

The thing is that their tracking system says it was delivered...and its very cold out and the heat pack should be done by now...

I missed the part where you sayed they marked it delivered. I would compleatly cheak your apartment building if you haven't already. Maybe even one nearby, if there is anyway the driver could be confused. Almost sounds like they kept going to the wrong place.
I hope you find him soon.

Why didn't you just go down to the fedex hub and pick up the package? The are usually open to around 7:30/8:00, and the packages that didn't get delivered are ususally there after 5.
When fedex couldn't deliver one of mine one time because they got behind because of a thunderstorm, I went to the fedex hub right after I knew it was back there.
Good luck, I hope everything is OK.

They're only open till 5 and the truck wasn't back till after 6 on Tuesday and Wednesday! So I wasn't able to go after they got back...I'd have gone today...but apparently he was delivered somewhere....

my sis ter lost 2 in the mail in the summer for 2 weeks. when she got them they both were alive and she had her money returned because the shipping company thought they were dead. so u never know she also had a gecko get to her in a day like it was post 2 and it was died so u never know. hopefully it works out for the best.

I had something kinda similar happen to me with UPS. My street is labeled as L-12 but officially its L12, and sometimes shipping companies think its an appartment number, and sometimes just having the dash in there throws them off. Well when I found out that they had that error (L-12 instead of L12), I called UPS right away and they were able to get the driver turned around and have it delivered. I kept refreshing the tracking page on my laptop as I waited by the window. I think I like UPS the best though because of their Next Day Air before 10:30am. I hope everything works out for the best and the lil guy is safe. Keep us posted!
