Interested in breeding, this is my pair

tequila Feb 12, 2004 06:58 PM

Hey guys, I've owned cornsnakes for about 2 years now, and I can't say how fun it is watching the little babies grow up to be thick cornsnakes! I've always been fascinated by breeding them, due to the fact that I get all my snakes from a breeder that I have become good friends with, and he is going to help me get into it come time that my corns are ready! I have 8 snakes as of now, 6 being corns, and I would absolutley love to have a few pairs going when they all get old enough. Just thought I'd ask anyone here with experience if they had any wisdom, advice, or criticism to share before I dive into the hobby! Here is our planned pair, the male is the Jungle on the left, and the Ghost on the right is the hot blonde so to say!

P.S. What am I expecting when it comes to offspring (both are pos het albinos) The jungle has come from a long line of jungle parents if that matters, no king was involved since about 5 generationg ago I was told.

Hey,

Those are very nice snakes and breeding corns is very rewarding if you haven't already i recommend the Corn Snake Manual by bill and Kathy Love-you can get it from their website. it has almost all the info you need on breeding and anything else can be answered by people on many forums.

assuming that both are het for albino and nothing else you should get normals and albinos with a wide range of looks. Just remember that no matter how many generations they will never ever be pure corns. you could have the same line going for years and the babies could have less than 1/16th of the king blood in them but you can never get rid of it and it is very important to relay that to anyone who buys the babies so that the confusion doesn't spread and so that they can represent their own snakes right. so essentially you will ghet all jungle corns of various colors and shades. Good Luck
