about babyfood...

irish_eyes113 Feb 12, 2004 07:53 PM

i've been reading these posts about feeding leos baby food. I would like to give this a try since my leos are so picky. They are such spotty eaters, especially around this time of the year. What is the best to use, fruit or meat? Which kind of either? How should i offer it to them? And how much should i offer them? Any help would be great.

I apologize if i've misssed these answers in one of the other posts.

Thanks, Jenn

Jenn,
Feeding babyfood to leos is a means of getting nutrients to a leopard gecko that is recovering from illness and not otherwise eating. They are carnivores and should be fed live insects. If your leos are not eating there usual, you can try a different insect. You should not worry to much as long as their tails are fat. All that aside, If your leos have lost wieght and you are worried, you can try one of two things. A supplemented babyfood mix or the t-rex Crested gecko diet. The baby food mix that I feed to a few of my cresteds (they are onmivorous frugivours, not true carnivores) is: 1 jar of banana, 1 jar of peach, and 1 jar of turkey in broth. I add a samll pinch of herptivite and a pinch of minerall I to this.
good luck
