ill veiled chameleon

thekidgecko Feb 12, 2004 08:19 PM

Our chameleon wouldn't eat yesterday and he was sleeping during the day today (very unlike him). He drank some water but still won't eat anything today.

Are these signs that he's sick and what do you do if they start acting like this?

Thanks

When you ask for help you need to give us a lot more information first. How old, how long you've had him, what do you feed, gutload with, what dusts do you use and how often, what type of setup he's in, what type of lighting (be specific! brands are important!), temps, and humidity. The first thing to do is reduce stress and compare your husbandry with good online information and look for things you can improve. Very good sources for cham info are at the bottom of this messsage. Next, look for daily sources of stress such as too much activity around the cage, stress from seeing another animal, being bothered too much, etc. Not eating for one day is no problem, but sleeping during the day is. Chams hide their health problems until they are really sick, so whatever is bothering him has been developing for some time.
