Road Hunting NM May 31 - June 3

jamesball Jun 08, 2003 07:41 PM

I went to NM on business and took several days vaction to do some road hunting on southcentral NM roads. I found the following:
7 Western Diamondback Rattlesnakes AOR
1 WDB DOR
2 Prairie Rattlesnakes AOR
3 Glossy snakes AOR
1 Longnose snake AOR
10 Texas Horned Lizards AOR 3 DOR

Normally, I take flash photography but this trip I tried a camcorder. I will submit some photos using this camcorder which are not nearly a clean and crisp as one can obtain from a film camera (my bias).

James Ball

This is the first rattlesnake of the trip - a coiled up
WDP on the road.

That previous photo caption should have been WDB - oh well.

This is another picture of this snake.

James, you need to check out herpforums dot com. The url has been banned and it quickly disappears if it is posted on kingsnake dot com, but you will probably enjoy the forums. Nice finds in NM. That is a fun state to herp. You seem like a true fieldherper, so come check out herpforums. Happy herping. Shane
