I thought i should share some info about feeding paulsoni babies since that seem to be the most frequently asked question about candoias.
I have sofar only bred and proudeced one clutch of Isabels Bevelnosed Boas (C.paulsoni paulsoni) which resulted in 14 babies, and 13 of them where feeding on pinkies whitin 6 weeks !!!! Maybe i just had luck whit them but this is how i did.
I placed them one by one in small plastic boxes, right after they where born and had shed there first skin.
Each plastic box had one small hide box and a small water bowl.
I left them all alone and did not disturb them than just changing water. Soon all of the babies where hiding in the hiding places whit just the head sticking out of the opening.
Then after 2 weeks i placed one live day old pinkie in each plastic box right outside their hiding places at night, and left them all alone. The next day five pinkies where gone.
I repeated this after another 10 days and the five that had been eating before took it again plus another two babies ate for the first time.
The seven that had not been eating continued refusing pinkies after further attempts.
Later i got my hands on a bunch of small African Tree Frogs (Leptopelis), i offered them to the seven non feading paulsonis and jackpot another 6 babies that earlier refused food fed. After two or three meals of tree frogs i tried to scent the pinkies whit frogsmell and then even the pinkies where accepted. I think the most important thing is to leave them all alone before they are established feeders.
