Q: Do corns like to soak? A: see pics

IcedGoddess Feb 13, 2004 10:30 AM

I'm starting to think Ruby may be pregnant again. Of course, last year I thought so for about 3 months before she layed eggs, so obviously I was wrong for at least a month But the only time I've ever caught her actually napping in her water, was last year when she was gravid. In the pics she's awake and watching me, but since then has been sound asleep (I assume because her pupils are tiny and she's not moving) in her water now for about 30 minutes.

and a close up head shot

Has anyone else noticed a correlation between soaking and pregnancy in their females?

Well, I can't vouch for corns since this year is my first attempt (and so far they don't seem interested in each other). However, my female boa always drinks a lot more water when she's gravid and will use the water tub as a hide if I don't provide her with a hide. From what I've read, whether they are producing eggs or give birth to live young, females do need to drink more water...perhaps she thinks this happens by osmosis?
