Maturing Leucs...need expert opinions...

di_anna Feb 13, 2004 06:31 PM

Hello all, I read this forum regularly but there aren't many utter newbies asking questions like this so I would like some input. I have some Leucs, 4 to be exact, which I purchases last fall (October) at a young (?not sure?) age. This week one has begun rattling its head off (looks like it's going to!) making so much noise I had been looking out the windows to see if a neighbor was operating a snowblower (minus snow.) Finally "caught" the culprit, it's definately one of the little guys in my frog tank producing a "song". Thing is, I've heard Leucs sing and this doesn't sound like what I would expect to hear. My question goes out to you experienced Leuc breeders. out there.,.do young ones sound a bit "odd" when they're first learning "how?" Thanks, I appreciate any replies --- dianna

I'm not expert, but I can say my male luec sounds a bit different now than when he first started to call.

i have experienced this with all of my frogs. it takes them a little while to gain their full vocal prowess. it has taken my male leuc longer then my imitators, vents, and tricolors... but i bet it is different for each individual frog as well as species.
