Snake gone Crazy?

elmezie Feb 13, 2004 07:48 PM

Ok, so today my snake came back after two months in the wild.

I reach in the cage looking for it and it goes crazy. It starts striking at everything and curls up in the defensive and shakes its tail like a rattle snake. I didn't think corn snakes did this.

I am amazed by her new behavior

two things. one, you leave a fluffy white kitty in the wild for two months and it comes back to you mean and gross. i mean, you see the way people act on survivor, lol. i guess my point is that your little baby is used to fending for her/himself, but just needs a bit of TLC to act 'normal' again. two, sounds like kingsnake behavior, sure you got the right snake back? lol. for real though, good luck. and tell your girlfriend to get over it. ;o)

She escaped for two months and you found her recently, I'd say that was normal wild snake behavior. Don't be afraid (it's not like it hurts to get bitten by corns, lol. You have to let her know that type of "acting-out" will get her nowhere. After two months in captivity, she should be back to her old self. Just give it time, handle her a lot, and don't be afraid of her. Neglected snakes go bad. I am the only guy in the world who gets bit by corn snakes anyway so don't fret.

No one in the world ever gets what they want, and that is beautiful. Everybody dies frustrated and sad, and that is beautiful.

I've had corns for about 5 years now and never been bitten by any of them. My boyfriend on the other hand has been bitten by at least half of the same snakes. I tell him that they must hate him...lol. I figure he just isn't as cautious as I am, and I think sometimes he startles them.
