Is it okay to hold them a couple hours after eating?

i generally wait 24-48 hours after feeding, depending on the metabolism (?), of the snake i have had some gurge after waiting 3-4 days later.

If a large snake eats a small meal, where you can't even tell it ate, generally, you can handle it within an hour or two with amost no risk of reguritation. If you give a snake a meal that makes an obvious large lump in it, you have to wait longer.
