George being aggresive

UroJade Feb 13, 2004 09:52 PM

George has been acting aggresive since around January 26th i think
bobbing at me, looking like he was trying to mate with my hand twice
and then he started trying to bite me, he bobs at the other lizards if he see's them outside his cage but only at me if i open it. he still eats and everything. does this mean he likes his big cage and he doesnt want me in it? has he just decided he doesnt like me? is he trying to attract a mate? just saying "this is my basking spot put the food down and go away"
do you thikn he's going to stay like this or is it a phase he's going through?

its funny i relized just how tame he's gotten (dispite trying to eat my fingers) now that i have the new female. i just look at her wrong and she takes off
hope she eats soon. she made a little poop yesterday so maybe she was eating before she came but just not alot?

It sounds like breeding behaviour. Is it possible that George can smell the new female uro's scent on your hands? That may be why he's getting aggressive towards you. wIf he tries to mate with your hand, try flipping it over and see if that discourages him for the time being. Peter did that with Boulder once before (at least, I think it was Peter who said that, don't quote me on it ).
He's probably just in breeding mode, don't take it personally

Good luck
