noctural leuc

jbeetle Feb 13, 2004 11:32 PM

well the topic sums it up. my male leuc's favorite time to call is after all the lights go out in the tanks and in the whole room as well (except for an ambient glow from my computer or tv), and then sometimes even later when there are no lights on at all. i find this very strange as darts are dinural animals. maybe he is just shy and self conscious, and the cover of darkness makes him feel more confident with the ladies lol. i was just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience with any of their darts? my mantellas also call a lot during the night, but i don't think that is very rare as i have heard that they can be very active at night.

Many of my frogs call within an hour of lights out. I have even seen my auratus breed after dark. So it happens...Don't think its a problem.

thanks, but i didn't think it was a problem... just strange actions for a dinural animal. i was just wondering if others have had similar things happen to them... and as you have stated you even have had breeding in the dark. so i guess it isn't all that uncommon.

My imitator calls before the lights go out and then after they go off also. Now my leuc calls during the day most of the time.

my imitators call a lot before the lights go out and a little after as well. but they are right next to my computer, so they chatch a lot of the light from its screen, so there is still some light for them. the leucs are on the other side of the room, and there is a huge increase in calling from day ti night. some of my other darts never call at night, even if the lights in the room are turned on for some reason or another. so go figure?
