David,
I understand you have a rather large outdoor home for the Chucks & Dersert Iguanas. I'm considering something along the same lines but have numerous questions. Walls, Top, ect.. Would you mind posting some pics that might help.

P.S. Did you guys get any of this SNOW!!! Can't beleive it snowed here!
Thanks

See the attached link & you will find a couple of wide angle views of the pen . Most of the cactus pics & lizard pics are from inside the pen. The walls are made of 16 ga sheetmetal and the roof is the clear corrugated pvc panels from Home Depot. It is 30 ft X 30 and the roof slopes from 8 ft on the south side to 12 ft on the north side. It was sloped/ designed to at least catch some sun rays year round. I have chickern wire up to around 7 ft on the sides now & plan on completely closing it in soon with more wire. I grow enough local & desert plants that they can walk right up to lunch & eat at will-- I have many underground tunnels made of treated timbers, concrete culverts & cinder blocks. No "Man Made" tunnel entrances can be seen as I have them well covered with large flat rocks. Since it is covered I can grow things like Creosote Bush, Desert Marigolds and damn near anything else I can get to sprout-- plus all those cactus!
It was a BUNCH of work at first but it paid off since it is self supporting. I will also find the link to a site that a guy named Gus has ( Rio Bravo Reptiles.com)-- he has a series of pen building pics. John E built his collared pen using Gus'ss's ideas.

I can come home & take a vacation to the desert every day now!!!!

Everyone said it was impressive...but WOW! I've gotta have one now. I'm looking at a 15 x 20 built into a S.E. niche against my home. I was worried about my Uros climbing the sides and escaping (don't have any Orange Jump suits for them). The sheetmetal is an excellent idea. What have you done to deter tunneling under? Or will they? Thanks again...I know what I'll be doing this summer!

its breath taking, yeah, thats right, I cant BREATH, I'm so Taken by the scenery !

Great place to live, those Chucks have it made. To think I asked to take your girl, who had been hurt, if she could not stay outside, makes me feel embarrested !

I could never provide what she has had there with you !

Your right, just close it in COMPLETELY, problem solved !!! No more INTRUDERS, of the critter kind,, to harm the lizards !

Awesome cacti too !

Hey all those Saturday nights of Stumbling around the pen, sure paid off. Heres to ya !!!

Eve
