BREEDING Dilema (long)

brandon_thebull Feb 14, 2004 08:28 AM

Question
I have an opportunity to aquire
1 male Albino & 1 100%het female Albino
Pair of 100% Het Caramel Albinos
Pair of 100% Piebalds
Pair of Pastels
There will be kept in a rack system.(w/proper temps in the rack)
11" heat tape at the back w/a thermo set @ 92 for 24hrs a day
(my tubs go in long ways not sideways My Rack is 37"D & 24"W 60"H)Then Nov.ish set the temps to run 12 hrs on & 12 hrs off.
My dilemma is:
The way my house is the only place to set up the racks are in my dining room where I cant keep the room temps @ a constant 84ish degrees. & there is no possible way (finacially or space) to add another room.Should I still take on this project?
Will they still be able to breed If I just cycle the temps in there tubs?
Thanks
Brandon

The temps isnt a big concern it is the location of the rack. BP gets stressed really easily. They might not breed for you in a high traffic place like the dining room. You are investing in a lot of $ in BP why not just build or buy a shed and put it in the backyard. My 2 pennies

Brandon,

Your setup sounds fine............go for it!

In the winter time you'll want to shut off the heat tape at night. So, with a room temp in around 70F in the dining room that will be perfect for breeding. I let my room drop to anywhere from 64-70F at night during the winter. I don't like my room getting over 82F during the summer months.

Good Luck,
Corey
