MY HOLD BACK JUNGLE WITH SOME COLOR

bcibydesign Feb 14, 2004 08:47 AM

J/K this actually is a hold back Harlequin from the first F2 out crossing. but in my opinion looks more like a jungle than those recently post as jungles.
i wouldn't take 3000.00 cash for this female. but i also wouldn't put her up on kingsnake as anything but what she is.

just my cent and a half worth. Brendan

Great looking animal! I also respect the fact that these are being called harlequins as opposed to jungles.

IN MY WEBSTER DICTIONARY THE DEFINITION IS SIMPLY "CLOWN" MAYBE THIS EXPLAINS MORE THAN I ORIGINALLY THOUGHT. BY THE WAY, THE DEFINITION FOR JUNGLE IS "THICK TANGLED MASS OF TROPICAL VEGETATION."

Rainshadow Feb 15, 2004 02:21 PM

At least I chose a name that was IN the dictionary! *LOL* how many breedings have been done with that project prior to you slapping a $2000 price tag on them???(or,was it $2500?) I mean, they're great looking boas, but, one breeding, and, they're instantly a "new" morph, worthy of a big hefty price tag? maybe so,more power to ya....I just thought that since you're trying to divert attention away from the original subject, and, poke a little fun at something that's got a bit more legitamacy to it than one small,first-time breeding...maybe you'd care to tell us what this new book you've discovered, says about "blockback"?????? is that in there somewhere? there were 2 other people that politely asked questions about your "Jungle" boas,(no,I wasn't one of them.)instead you want to change the subject to Harlequins??? will that be the next thing you try to offer with a nice little disclaimer???I can understand you dodging my posts, but, why theirs?

No disrespect intended here at all.............

I agree with others when they say that you using the "jungle" name is miss leading. Your didn't come from the original line......And, therefore it should not be named as such. I think another person hit it on the head when they spoke of an animal that was Motleyish......And, calling it a motley boa. It just isn't right. And, it is miss leading in my opinion.

Now, if you have taken a few breeding to "prove" that your animal is different than a normally colored boa.......By all means....Call it a "Cage" boa. (You get the idea) I'm not into making a TON of nice sounding names like the ball pythons seem to lean towards. But, if you can prove time and time again that your animals will produce something different...........Then, by all means, call it what it is.

I'm not here to tell you what you should "label" or "charge" for your animals. It is not EVEN my place. But, in my opinion......To sell an animal at a high price and call it a Jungle is miss leading. I know better..........Since I have been around for a while. But, what is to say a new person is thinking they are getting a GREAT DEAL on a Jungle..........Only to have it not "prove" out.

Again, I am not into making a ton of new names for a boa. But, I think it is good to keep certain lines separated. If it is genetic. And, proves to be so........Time and time again........Then, it should be labeled as such.

I know you keep on going back and forth with R & B. But, I really feel that they did go through this process the right way. They took the time to see if their animal was a genetic anomaly. I feel it is. I also think that it has proved itself as such.

Again, this is my humble opinion. You should do the same. I would never call an animal a "certain name" after one breeding. To me, that has not proved a thing.
Just my 2 cents on the topic.
Have a good one,
John

I've said it once when they were produced along with another person (which lead to us being made out to be bad guys by all the little cronies) and I'll say it again, What diffrence grants these boas the name "Harlequin"? I mean there nice looking and all but nothing more special than a nice pastel with a little striping. I guess perhaps you all must see something I neglect to see there. But I dont think so. Sorry if I cannot seem to adapt to jump on this band wagon and mystify the person that Hmm lemme see the words to use.. Lucked up enough to produce some very nice colored colombians and just happened to be able to find a name that he thought would glorify them for something more than they are. Hey I say more power to you if thats what you think the "public" wants by all means dazzle them with your creativity...

Use the Forum search tool, you can find info on them dating all the way back to when you were 13 I'll bet.(that's when I first "lucked up" and, produced them.)I'm sorry if you don't like the name,or,can't see their significance,it's not like I just named them after one breeding, jumped to big conclusions, and, offered them on the classifieds for 10K ea.??? or admitted to the "public" that they're just the result of breeding 5-6 nice looking boas to each other, and, then changed my definition every other day???(or,buy up other peoples babies, and, then "decide" to call them "Harlequins"?) I'm not asking you to believe in Santa Clause,or,something,I'm just breeding some boas I lucked up on,if you like something else better, then by all means, focus on that? I'm not sure why you think I,(we) need your seal of approval to do so,but,as I said,if it's information you're seeking,we've made plenty of it available, and,I think if you do some research you'll find some continuity to our story? I guess until you've actually been proud of an accomplishment of your own,the world seems full of "glory hounds"??? good luck...
