I have been using cardboard boxes, cut into an appropriate sizes. I will be getting to homedepot to look for some plastic plant-pot bowls soon, though, as the cardboard gets soggy if it's accidentally moved by the snake into the waterbowl (live and learn, heh.)

I never throw out a box a snake has not had a chance to hide in. I use cereal boxes, hamburger helper boxes, christmas boxes~ whatever I can find. If I don't have a box, I put extra newspaper in the tub and they hide under the paper.

I just starting using plastic dog bowls. They last forever and you can clean them much better. I had a few balls who liked to deficate in/on there hides(still can't figure that one out), and the clay would retain the odor. You can bake them, but i still found a lingering odor. Plastic is sweet, alittle virosan and all is good... The only disadvantage is the weight, it is really light, but it works well..
