question that has been asked a million times but i got to ask it.

ok my two corns are housed seperatly in 2 10 gal. tanks. they are about 15-17 inches last time i meaured them. Would it be ok to use Aspen bedding or Retpile bark for these guys. the reason im asking is because they are still hatchlings (i think there only line 3-4 months old)

the paper towels are easy to clean but just dont look nice.

thanx

and to avoid them ingesting the substrate put the pinkie on a plastic tray or piece of newspaper when you feed them. In the wild they ingest substrate so personally I've never felt that's a big deal especially when they're stomach enzymes digest mice bones, fur and teeth.

I use aspen shavings in all of my habitats. Even the hatchlings.
I just feed in separate containers.

I've had mine on reptil bark from the get go. They have been fine for a year now. I just put them in seperate container to feed although occasionally I'll feed them in their tanks. I just use the lid of the little plastic container you bring home a new addition in and set the meal on that. They will usually start eating on that but end up on the bark. So far so good.

I put mine on aspen as soon as I bring them home. As far as ingesting the substrate, I always feed in seperate containers. Many people feed in the living enclosure with out problems, but I personaly don't feel comfortable with it. I did lose a baby creamcicle due to impaction in the stomach last year. I don't think it had anything to do with feeding. She was a picky eater, and by the time I figured out what was going on it was to late. Keeping corns is a constant learning experience. So keep a real close eye on your babies. Good luck, Jim
