$2.00 mylar reflector

mbmcewen Feb 14, 2004 03:59 PM

This is my cheap homemade reflector for my cheap homemade hood. The reflector material is an emergency space blanket that can be bought at walmart or anywhere else that sells hunting/camping/backpacking equipment. Goes for about 2 bucks and wieghs less than paper. As reflective as a mirror too.

Pretty good looking job, Matt. I hate to tell you that if I was thinking, I would have suggested aluminum foil. I used that on my makeshift 2x13 watt "hood." I can't say I'm particularly impressed with the results, but it's there for now. I do think I'm going to try the parabolic mirrored acrylic, though.

IMO, foil and mylar barely reflects (if any, at all) light.
