California King escaped from feeding enclosure last nigt.........What to do?

Uncloudy Feb 14, 2004 04:01 PM

Last night after eating two juvenile mice my 2-3yr old desert banded California Kingsnake escaped from his feeding box.
Usually after a feeding he goes back into his hide box or stays under substrate for a couple of days before venturing out. I have checked to obvious places like washer/dryer, fridge, and dishwasher. I am afraid he's hanging out in between my cabinets and the wall in my laundry room, because when he escaped from me once before he found from my tile floor, 3-4 inches up next to the wall, there is a space you can fit a large finger into between the outer lining of the cabinets and the wall.
The hard part about this is its my daughter's beloved kingsnake she's grown up with and last time I lost him she cried and cried for 45 minutes............worried...........she will be at my house this Monday. Of all the other snakes I have this one is by far her favorite and she prefers it over all others.
My game plan is to wait the snake out until, I believe, he comes out from between the cabinet and the wall once he is hungry again in conjunction with periodically checking the obvious place like frige, washer/dryer, and dishwaher.
If anyone else has any suggestions on getting my daughters and my beloved kingsnake back ASAP, they would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You and Happy Herping

Try melissa kaplans site...she has a faq on finding lost snakes.

If you've ever though about rearranging your house...now'd be the time....could be anywhere!

Try book shelves, in and out of everything that you think could be possible and then in stuff that you think could be impossible...

but look at the site first....
