Two male dragons freakin' out! Some thoughts please?

wideglide Feb 14, 2004 04:05 PM

I've got two male dragons in seperate cages and they cannot see each other. The cages are perpendicular to one another, though.

Both of them are freaking out and seem to be trying to get at one another. Do you think they can hear/smell each other or something like that?

I decided to take the male dragon out of his enclosure and while still holding him get him near the little dragon in his enclosure. The only thing that happened is the smaller dragon wiggled his tail, tried to lick the big dragon, wiggled his tail again then went up to his basking spot.

I've seen them get active together before and in the past when I've showed them to each other for a minute or two and then seperated them back into their own enclosures they settled down. Also, when I've done this the small dragon would head bob a slowly a few times then do nothing. They're not settling down now. Both are running all over their cages and seem to be trying to get at each other even though they still can't see the other.

I don't care if they're active like this but do you think they're driving themselves crazy trying to get at each other? I don't have much space in my apt. so moving two big aquariums around is not impossible but would be prettty difficult. This only seems to happen every once in a while.

What do you guys think? Is it going to harm either to just leave the situation as is?

Thanks for any advice!!!!

i get that with several BDs. some males can see eachother some cant. It doesnt matter. My theory is as long as they eat well and continue to grow or maintain weight, I don't pay attention to it. I have noticed that by placing them in their water bowl when they get all excited it calms them down, kinda like a cold shower. You could try an experiment of burning a candle or incense to see if it will mask the smell.
