Finally got a Ball python

roachey56 Feb 14, 2004 05:05 PM

I got my ball python today! It's name is Felix. I have a question on the feeder size though. The snake is about 16-18 inches long and about 3/4-1 inch wide at the widest part, what size feeder should i use?

So when i was finally putting it in its cage i noticed that some of the tan colored areas on the side look EXACTLY like hearts. Ain't that a cool coincedence.

Congrats! Would love to see pics. How old is he?

Do you know what he was being fed before? I'm thinking he might be ready for adult mice?

Hey, by the way you can now change your signature from "Coming Soon" on the Ball Python.

I'll take some pics of felix next week when i first handle/feed him/her. I might not be able to post pics seeing as i don't know how, could you give me some instructions. They said it was feeding on mice and rats but i was dumb and forgot to ask the size. Don't know how old he/she is. I finally saw a ball python in a ball! it was coool. I have it in a rubbermaid aproximately 30" by 12", how large of a snake could i keep in there?

That size should last awhile. That's equivalent to a 20 long which is the absolute minimum for an adult ball python. You'll want to increase to at least 36 inches in length.

To post pics you first have to find a site to host them - somewhere where you can set up a photo album online. Kingsnake has a photo gallery section, and you can upload photos for free - up to a point. Once they're uploaded on a site, then when you are creating a post you can select an image from your photo gallery to attach (this option is available above the "Post message" button). Or you can insert multiple pics in a message. I haven't done that yet, but just click on the "Tools and Toys" link below the message box.

I am definately going to get a bigger cage. I am going to make two 3' by 2' by 2' melamine cage sometime in the future (one for felix and one for lex). It is obsessed with the hide made from a plastic cutlery box, i took it out to do a final mite/tick check and when i put it back in wham straight into the box. I never knew snakes could slither that fast.
