I like this one. I use it for floor temp, air temp, and humidity. All three show at once, no pushing buttons. www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&category%5Fname=CTLG%5F007%5F013%5F003%5F000&product%5Fid=63%2D1032

I am in search of the same thing. I did look at the Radio Shack guages but the specificly say do not get wet or moist. I have an GTP cage with an automatic mister and it would get soeaked in there. I have recently come accross this one and it looks to mount inside the tank with a nice sealed case.

I am pretty sure the Radio Shack 63-1030 is the best.

It records hi and lo
It measures humidity and temp
Totally wireless
*Multiple sensors* up to 3 different cage recordings at one time!
(I have a rack I am building and intend to put one on at the top middle and bottom)
Check this out!

sushiking,

I saw this one before in Rat Shack. I believe this one has a powered transmitter that goes into the tank. Not probes. You should check to see if it can handle the wet conditions in a vivarium.

Yes the actual transmitter goes into the cage. Its made for outdoor. Not underwater. It can resist being moist just not soaking WET.

I am worried about 300' range transmissions though.?....

You must have one heck of a big house! Or is your herp room on the back 40 (acres)?

It's a real Neverland compound. heh...

I was wondering if the transmissions could possibly hurt the snakes? or me for that matter? Are these like cell phones?

Thanks,

I never considered there might be any health consequences from a wireless thermometer! And won't be losing any sleep over the prospect. I reckon you could make little aluminum foil helmets for your snakes, however attaching them could prove difficult. Little rubber band chin/rostral straps?

I use an Oregon Scientific model #THGR268 and three remote units around my place. Occasionally I put one in a snake cage temporarily if I'm monitoring a new set up, or am checking on the temps for a gravid female. I'm using one in my incubator this season although the 95-plus% humidity probably isn't good for its long-term prospects and is specifically cautioned against in the instructions.
