feeding her right?

rayquaza Feb 14, 2004 06:29 PM

My ball is 18mnths old(approx.)..and she is 2ft 11inches and about 1 1/2 inches (5 inches around) at her biggest part..I have been feeding her a small rat every ten days is this right or should I be feeding her a large mouse every 7 days instead? She seems content enough and always eats what I put in her tank. But I am worried the rats might be too big for her..this last one she didnt seem to want though she acted hungry..I worry way to much all the time about her. If Im feeding her right or if the temps are right etc.

If you look at the widest part of your snake, try to pick a prey item that is just about that big around. A small rat should be fine for her. It ought to leave just a bit of a lump in her midsection when she's done. I offer food once a week, but 10 days ought to be OK with a sufficient sized meal. I'd stasy with rats if she doesn't have a problem with them. Sounds like you are doing a great job caring for your snake. Keep it up!
