THey are an orange colored newt. I have 3 they are all between 2-5 years old and they are all fat as can be. They are in my moms classroom and she swears she has seen them breeding but no eggs. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

lower the temperature in the tank for two or three months, and then bring it back up... but if they've already seen amplexus and mating behavior, i dont think you need to worry about that.
and there are 3 different species of newts commonly sold as "california newts". all require different degrees of terrestrial/aquatic set up... look into which species you have. once you're sure they're in the correct set up, breeding should come naturally.
