Roylance Racks vs. Freedom Breeder Racks?

peterfromme Feb 14, 2004 09:14 PM

Hi Everyone,

I'm considering purchasing a large rack for my constrictors (4 foot long tub models). The two rack companies I'm looking at include Roylance and Freedom Breeder.

They both look like very nice units, but curious to know if anyone has a preference over the other, and why? In addition, are there other companies I should consider?

It's a big investment so any help/opinion would be greatly appreciated

In the end large racks seem like a wise investment. A 6 rack Roylance rack cost about $1,800 shipped. Six cages would easily cost as much if not more.

Just let me know your opinions....

Thanks,

Peter F.

Roylance is built better........the FB's have had problems with rivets I believe.

I don't have any experience with either company so I can't help with that, although I know that Alan at junglehabitats.com is working on a large plastic constructed tub rack system himself, and I believe his design might fit what you are looking to get, and also be more cost effective then the others..

Good luck with whichever you decide on..

I don't know how useful my comments will be, but here goes...

The first Freedom Breeder racks I saw were in the height of their quality control issues. They were horrible to be frank.

But just a couple of months ago I was able to see, literally, the first racks they ever sold. I don't know how old that would make them, but they were awesome and still in excellent shape.

I've heard that their second generation design - the one out today - is very good.

I've never seen royalance, but I've heard they are also very good.

I'd go out of my way to see both in person and closely examine the mechanisms of how they work very closely.

Jon and I live near each other. I've also compared the two and would say that Jons are very well built. I work in the steel industry, specifically CAD Drafting and his racks are high quality for the money you will spend. Good Luck, Chris
