breeding corns without brumating

toppy Feb 14, 2004 11:07 PM

I have 2 wild caught female corns that are done with there vet visits pancour and all that. My question is one female is 275g
and the other is 310g they are over 36" in legnth. if I breed them to my ghost male ( who just warmed up from brumating) is there a chance the females will breed sucessfully without cooling them? they are both healthy, good eaters, and from what I've read large enough to breed but can they produce viable clutches without brumating?
any info would be helpfull
thanks
Chris

Many corns breed and produce without brumating. My snow and Okeetee were not brumated last year and gave me 15 eggs and 13 babies. (I think I killed the other two eggs by letting them get too dry.)

>>I would only breed the one that weighs 310 grams and hold off on the other one until you can get her over 300 grams.
Everything I have read seems to indicate they do better when over 300 grams.
Otherwise, yes, they will breed without brumation.
These eggs, laid Friday, are from a non-brumated pair.
