Help! I have on ornery Blood Python....!!!

jerseyguy Feb 15, 2004 08:06 AM

I have a Blood Python - male - about 1year old maybe a year and a half old - bought him on January 7th - this guy is one ornery python - and he has yet to eat for me. He hisses, and is very very fast! I had no idea Blood Pythons could move so fast....but this guy does! He squirms and squirms and thrashes and hisses...
than usually goes potty on my floor....So, my question is do I leave him alone? I would have thought he would have already settled in by now, since I've left him alone. Or do I try and handle him more to get him used to this? I know many snake owners never handle their snakes....just curious. But he has not eaten yet either - the vendor who sold him to me said he was eating F/T readily. So I don't know why he won't eat....

Your snake is getting stressed from a new enviornment/handling. Please let us know what conditions he has now (type of container, size of container, heat, hides, temps, humidity etc..). You may not be giving him proper conditions. I wouldn't handle him until he settles in and starts feeding etc..
