radient heat panels vs. ceramic heat emitters

Bodhisdad Feb 15, 2004 09:30 AM

At present I'm using a 60 watt ceramic heat emitter to supplement
a basking site and provide a nighttime heat source in a 20 gal. tank. In the near future I'm moving the critters into a 4'l,2'h, 2'w enclosure. At the basking site i will just use some sort of bulb configuration. I was thinking about switching to a radient heat panel as a supplemental heat source. Is a radient heat panel a more efficent way to heat a cage. given the cage size whatt kind of wattage am i looking at. Room ambients are around 70 degrees I would like to raise them in the cage by 10-15 degrees.
any help would much appreciated. Thanx Clint

Hello Clint I hope someone with experience answers your request because I am pondering the exact same. I have searched the archives but can't find an answer. I am getting a 5'long x 4'high x 2'deep cage (from CagesByDesign) for some jungle carpet pythons and am wondering the same: heat panels versus ceramic bulbs? Please..someone with experience help us?

Check out proproducts.com, email or call them and they will tell you what size heat panel you need for your particular application.
