For what? For small/medium colubrids? BARRS. For larger snakes? Vision. For geckos? BARRS. For monitors? Vision.

I'd do a search. This topic has been brought up many times. Totally different plastic between the two. BARRS are lightweight and have acrylic doors. Visions are thicker, heavier and have glass doors. BARRS stack and have recesses for heat tape. Etc etc etc. Both are great and both have their applications.

Have you had experience with both?
Sorry i forgot to specify on what i was keeping, i'm talking about rhacs. I've yet to own a barrs, but i plan on getting one soon to try it out--they have great prices, and from what i've heard, they are very rigid, yet very lightweight. I have one vision, model #222 with a yearling leachianus in it right now. They are ok, although i'm not a big fan of the dome light fixture as i have a heat panel in there. The lips above and below the door could also be a problem for some. He loves to hide and sleep up there during the day. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but i could see how it would be for some herps and their keepers.
I agree though with you about snakes, for medium to large species, vision would probably be better, because of their weight.
another draw back of the visions is their price. ouch!

Yes, I have both. Excuse my lack of knowledge with lizards, but I assume "rachs" are geckos? Anyway, BARRS cages were designed with geckos in mind. They are extremely light-weight but rigid. I like the removable screens and other helpful options that you can get. No lips for animals to hide on, and visibility is tops due to the large acrylic door and the stark white plastic. Easy to heat too. Cheap to ship.

I still like my Visions too. They are the workhorses of plastic cages, and are the toughest due to the material used and thickness.

Yeah, sorry, rhacs, as in rhacodactylus, which is a genus of geckos endemic to New Caldonia. I look forward to trying out the barrs cages. While my vision works pretty well, it kinda seems like they were made with snakes in mind.
