Last summer I caught what turned out to be a prarie kingsnake. After much contemplation I returned it to the spot in my parents yard where I had found it several hours previously. It was comforting to know that the subspecies is in the area. Today on the road in front of my parents country home I found a DOA prarie king; she was large and a beautiful shade of rich brown with dark red dorsal blotches. To make matters worse, she had several eggs. Some were on the road, etc. I sure hate to see that loss...hopefully the population will be fine around the neighborhood despite losing the female breeder and eggs. I just wanted to share with people that I know can appreciate what a loss this is.

o I release in the same spot or somewhere that I know is safer? Probably not the same snake you had but still sucks to know how many snakes were lost in that single accident.
