prey size

I Have a two and a hailf foot long young ball python. People always tell me to feed the size of the largest spot on her body.. But what would happen if you fed something a liittle bit bigger. like going from a large adult mouse to a very small rat just wondering.

Some people go by the 'feed prey equal to the widest part on your snake's body' and some feed prey 1.5 times the widest part. Some people even go by percentage of body weight. I probably wouldn't make a huge jump in size.
