Ball Python Breeders?

mr_phew Feb 15, 2004 07:09 PM

I live in Minneapolis, Minnesota and I am looking for a breeder for ball pythons. I am not looking for anything expensive...just a starter ball for my wife.

I have a 9' red-tail boa from Surinam, an iguana, two common snapping turtles, a RES and two dogs, but my wife wants a ball python for herself!

If anyone can help me out and point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated. My email address is: mr_phew@yahoo.com

Thank you.

thanks to the internet, you have access to the best reptile breeders in the country, they don't have to be limited to just your area.

start with the forum sponsors at the top of this page, then browse the Ball python classifieds, you are bound to find what you are looking for.

two notes- this is about the leanest time of year for stock, as we are just about to enter a new season, so many breeders are sold out of 2003 stock (including us). the good news is since the season is quickly approaching, if you have a bit of patience, there will be plenty of baby Balls to choose from.

note number two, beware the plethora of wild caught balls, and dealers that are straight up lying and deceiving about the origin of their babies.

want the very best start possible? INSIST on U.S. captive bred animals that are already feeding on thawed rodents. that would give you the healthiest, most solid base to build from

I always believe in supporting your local economy 1st. If what your looking for is not there, then expand your search.

I am new to the Ball Python game but have a few in the oven as we speak.

Good thing about buying local is you get to see, touch, and talk face to face about what your getting. If in any way you do not like what you see, you do not have to buy. On the other hand, sometimes when buying from someone on the other side of the country, you may "kinda" get what they say your getting and then are kinda stuck. Either send it back taking a risk on the whole deal or just bitting the bullet and keeping something you might not want.

This can also turn you off to getting into this more and giving up on Balls all together.

Try local and see what there is, then work your way outward. Always nice to do face-to-face business. Thanks... John
