I am going to get my second boa next month the first one didnt work out rite .it went off feed bit me and tried for my mother i think that was because it was very font of this one guy who took care of her at the pet store mom made me take her back because she was scared a 6 ft boa can do alot of damage after one bite and one atempt bite. she was tooken back this time i am buying as a baby or yearling would be nice.what would be a better pet an argentina, guyan, colombian,or hog island i think colombians are very beutiful i just like the other ones a little better when it come to patern.which do u think would make a better pet.

I would definitely suggest that you get a Colombian boa from a BREEDER, not a pet store. This way you can be certain that it is captive bred. Also, start out with a young boa. If I were you I would get a boa that has just had its first few meals and already shed. A good place to look would be at a reptile expo. There should be plenty of well known breeders there.
Good luck,
Eric

Was there food around when it bit you?
My gut instinct is to tell you to go for a smaller snake... maybe a Hogg Island? That way if it does happen to bite you again your mom won't be so mad :P. Boas grow pretty fast.

if you worried about getting bit, don't buy a snake.

that you sound too young and inexperienced to be handling a boa. I suggest looking for a colubrid, such as a corn or king. Baby boas, like many baby wild animals, may be prone to biting because they may perceive you as a possible predator. The bite from even a baby boa is going to hurt, and it sounds like your Mom isn't going to be much help in supervising you with your pet. Boas will be around for years - slow down, get more experience, and get a nice boa once you're more able to handle the possibility of getting bitten.

In order of preference:

1. Hog Island, because it's small and easy to keep
2. Argentine or Colombian, because they're easy to keep, but get large
3. Guyana (or any other true redtail) because they're a little harder to keep, and get even larger.

Whatever you get, buy a captive-bred baby, preferably direct from a breeder.
