uh oh..what to do with a changing tadpole?

horseyjesse Feb 16, 2004 12:54 AM

i received a tadpole as a gift in early November. It sprouted back legs maybe a month ago, and it just recently sprouted front ones (in the past few hours!)It is currently living in an aquarium with my fish.

i have another 10 gallon that i can use to house it in, and i was wondering how the half land, half water thing worked. Is there some type of filter one can buy to keep the water clean? Or do i have to manually clean it when needed?

there is so much i dont know..i could really use help. I dont know what kind of frog it will be. It was purchased at Petco, but when i asked them what it was, they had no idea. It is a larger tadpole than i am used to seeing...

can anyone help me?

try this, it's worked for me: put just a couple inches of the same water he's in now into the other 10 gal. aquarium. add a couple pieces of lettuce. no filter needed. he'll start crawling up on the lettuce after awhile and his tail will be shrinking all the while. throw in some small crickets, etc. when the tail gets stubby. he'll go after anything that moves! sounds like it's a green frog or bull frog tadpole. they grow very rapidly! and that's all you have to do......have fun!
