Tokay breeding (sorta long & mostly rambling on)

Israel2004 Feb 16, 2004 10:12 AM

Just thought I'd share some of my excitment.
Last night sitting in my bed watching the tokays tank out sneaks the male from his hiding spot, climbs out to under the heat lamp. All of a sudden the female comes shooting out of her hiding spot and climbs right up next too him. He put his head right under her front leg and started calling to her. And then in my excited state I moved alittle too much and they noticed me. They then bolted back to their hiding spots. Ahh nuts.

I've only had them for about two months now and they're still not use to me being in the room. I hope that goes away with time.

Cann't wait for these guys to breed. It's been quite awhile since I've last bred anything. 3 years ago I bred the white line geckos I had. For some reason I had no luck keeping the babies alive past a month's time. That was really depressing.

Well enough rambling outa me.

How exciting, Tokays are really awsome to watch. When they get used to you they won't hide much except during the day. Mine come out at night and watch me sitting here. Snuggling, I call it, is normal whether its a female/male, female/female, baby/adult or the whole group. Doing lots of talking to them and getting in and out of their tank without bothering them will help get them used to you.

good luck on them breeding, if they do youll prob have good results with Tokays.
