different RES breeds

LeatherFace420 Feb 16, 2004 12:57 PM

Hey all im wondering if my 2 newer additions to my RES might be different than my older RES Drayton....

last october i purchased 4 baby res from chinatown (i know bad move i've lost 2) but i couldnt let them sit inna freezing bowl in the middle of october....

anywho my 2 survivors are doing amazinng and growinng but my questioon is could there be a possibility these r a different breed I.E. rio grande or along those lines because their coloring is very different than that of Drayton my other slider. While his show has an olive tint to it and hiss green along is body is a distinct slider green these 2 others are almost whited out NOT ALBINO but they're more of a inside of a limme green... its not a big deal at all and they live fine together i was just wondering if they might be a different breed. thanks to anyone who answers in advance, id post pictures but dont have a camera

(sorry for double typinng of letters my keyboard is messed up)

Most likely not different at all. Sliders vary in color and there are always the morphs. Pastels, leucistics, albinos. I actually have one that is very distinctly blue skinned with blue and emerald green and yellow on the shell.

cool thanks for your time and clarification... its pretty cool the variations in the two i'm waiting for the day i manage to finnd a cross breed between a RES and an eastern painted turtle as my lake by my house has begun to flourish with RES over the past 5 years..
while growing up it was always full of painters.....
