adopting a iguana

hi, i just recently lost my female ig of 10 years and am looking to get another iguana. i was wondering if someone could recomend a place that i could adopt a iguana in southern cali? rather then going out and buying a ig at a pet store! thank you for your replies

Hi!

How did you lose your iguana? If you try Scales and tails or the Green Iguana Society they have iguanas for adoption listed by state and I believe have some close to your area. Most of them have you fill out an application (just to make sure that the person they are adopting out to knows about iguanas and really wants one as a permanant fixture in their home). Anyway I have adopted two from the GIS and one from Scales and Tails and have had good luck with them both!

I say go through GreenIguanaSociety.org . I got one of My Boys through them (the first one). GREAT organization! ALso try checking your local Pet Shops..... A Lot of Dump offs go through stores..... That's how I got My Second One......

If you have a local Herpetological Society they always have plenty of igs up for adoption!
