Burm defecation???

rich-k Feb 16, 2004 04:57 PM

How often should my 4 ft. burm take a hot steamy one?

He's been constipated before and I got bit finding that out. His temps are up now but he's still not going. He's eaten 4 medium rats in like 20 days and nothing.

What does all this 1.1 ball and the like mean?
Anyway I got a 4 1/2ft ball & a 4ft burmees!

A "hot steamy one"? lol. Well, (chuckling) by definition,.. never,. unless he himself is warm and takes one on a cold day outside.

All joking aside though (yes, I can goof around too!) if a burmese is fed with regularity, say one meal per week period,.. then it should be defecating every week or so. I say "or so" because there is no real 'textbook' regularity with this 'activity'. But one could expect a "regularity" within reason.

My burm, I would say pees, once a week, but only really poops every couple weeks and I feed her a rabbit every 5-7 days. I know she really is going to poop after a shed. Somthing about losing your skin and the poop. Never fails. And then a couple times inbetween. Also, as many say water does the trick. I hate that cause then I have to walk outside with a rubbermaid of poop. Its actually pretty funny because it makes my girlfriend gag and want to puke. Watching her dry heav as I walk by. Its actually worth it. Hahahaha

At that size, their growth rate is so rapid that they seem to turn all of their meals into snake and therefore, have less waste. Between 3-6 feet they really do deficate less than when they get bigger.

I wouldn't sweat it.

Do you have plenty of good drinking water in its cage?? Feces can be held in the large intestine for extra water absorption if none is available... Give it a good soak, keep the H2O coming and she'll be fine.
