Exercising snakes during the winter.

Antegy Feb 16, 2004 07:29 PM

Here in MA it is still freezing winter time. And it's going to be a while still before I can take my 'kids' (burm, boa, and a kingsnake) out for some exercise in the sun.

So I'm going to build a sort of 'jungle-gym' for them to play on to help them keep in shape until summer time.

Here's what I have come up with for them to climb around on, or just plain hang out on. I thought it would be wise to keep it as simple and sturdy as possible.

here is my idea so far:

Any suggestions/comments on this?

Thanks,
- Mark

Neat drawing. The only thing I would recommend is to make sure you have a VERY stable base because a large snake will easily knock this over which could injure it. We are getting ready to mount some very large pieces of driftwood to the ceiling of our wildlife center so that I can drape a large boa on it for exercise (and it will be a real neat display for our visitors).

DFR who mainly posts on the anaconda forum has made like 2 or 3 of those for his yellows. I know he has given help to a couple people with those. Some of those look really nice.
