Cricket Problem!i!i!i!

JiMMY45 Feb 16, 2004 07:36 PM

I have my Crested Gecko in a 10 gallon tank, he's alone and he loves eating crickets! I dust my crix and he can't get enough of them. I try to give him baby food every so often, but he doesn't really like it! About the crix though, he always goes to eat the cricket and misses a lot! He has been getting pieces of bark in his mouth. I don't know if he will spit it out and he might not be able to digest it. I've been told he'll spit it out, but I think he mightswallow it. I see that a lot of you just have paper towels for substrate, so what do you think I should do? Get rid of the bark?

(I dont know if my cresed is a guy yet, I'm just sayin "he" lol

Thank You Very Much! Plz Reply!

Personally, I would switch to paper towel. I have heard stories of cresties choking to death on substrate. I have also witnessed one of my own crestie choking on substrate, If I werent there to help him remove it from his mouth, I think he would have choked to death. Anyway thats my 2 cents, hope it helps.

I feed my crested in a seperate enclosure (cardboard box) without substrate so he doesn't ingest anything but the crickets.
Good luck!

If you want it to look cool and be safe just put leaves over the paper towel.

Last night I put the paper towels in the tank... he's been acting pretty weird! Won't eat the cricket either!?! I'll give him a few more days... and if he doesn't start eating.. I'll put the bark back... I'm thinking of getting the Reptile carpet stuff too!
